Product Overview
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyester based on polyethylene terephthalate. This material has good dimensional stability because it is practically unaffected by moisture. Low coefficient of friction and excellent wear resistance, combined with low creep and high modulus of elasticity, make this material most suitable for moving parts.
Properties of PET
The main characteristics of lavsan include:
high strength;
increased rigidity;
good sliding properties;
wear resistance;
dimensional stability in high humidity;
glues and cooks well, polishes, and is also easily subjected to any other processing;
excellent electrical insulator;
not affected by acids, detergents, or solvents;
PET’s resistance to hot water is low, but this material has better acid resistance compared to nylon and polyacetal.
It is important to remember that this type of PET should not be used in water at temperatures of 60°C or higher.
